7 x 9 in. silver gelatin press photograph of Jesse Owens and his high school sweetheart, Minnie Ruth Solomon, applying to clerk Frank Zizelman for their marriage license on 5 July 1935. Verso with faint ink stamped date, "Jul. 6 1935." Accompanied by typed credit from the Associated Press, which reads in part, "Jesse Owens, Track Ace, Weds...Cupid overtook the 'World's Fastest Human' at Cleveland July 5 as Jesse Owens, Ohio State's negro track star, married miss Minnie Ruth Solomon of Cleveland..."

Legendary African American track and field athlete Jesse Owens (1913-1980) specialized in the long jump and sprints and gained international fame after winning four gold medals during the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He is celebrated as the most successful athlete that participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics.

Condition
Some soiling, toning, light creasing to print.
